PhotoGaffes is on ongoing series in which I examine the mundane, the perplexing, the beautiful, the ridiculous, and the blunders of the everyday. I am interested in how the peculiarities and characteristics of photography can be used to reframe these absurd scenes that I encounter into images.

For years I have been obsessed by the empathy I feel for the dead bugs on my bumper. For years I have been obsessed by the beauty I see in the dead bugs on my bumper. For years I have been obsessed by the tenacity of the dead bugs on my bumper. For the past year (and many times before now) I have felt like a dead bug on the bumper of this grand life. For years I remind myself I am still standing, resilient as fuck. For the past year I have been writing a country music song, Under These Kentucky Skies, in which I remind myself I am resilient as fuck. It has become a new anthem for years to come.
