on 02/21/2020 the account of a. vendetta on archive.org was locked without warning or notice. this account had been active on archive.org for seven years and consisted of 159 digital audio/video uploads. there is concern that the last upload "too good to be good" triggered the account suspension but it is unknown as of this time. the video contained an adult individual wearing lingerie and bdsm gear in a hotel room. no nudity was present in the video. the upload's tags also included [transgender]. those in control at archive.org have been contacted in an attempt to restore the archive. their response was that the account violated terms of service without any further details. a. vendetta has asked for clarification with no further answers. a. vendetta has asked peers to send the Internet Archive emails of support to no avail.

what are the ethics of physical and digital archives? do they have any? are they maintaining an archive free of prejudice and bias? or would they rather remove ACCESS to records in an act of CENSORSHIP? who gets to decide?

on 03/18/2020, the account of a. vendetta was unlocked and fully restored through persistent pressure from april vendetta and their peers placed on The Internet Archive to immediately restore the account and its contents. the reason given by archive.org for the account suspension was that another user flagged multiple uploads for "hardcore pornography." we have never left the culture wars. archive.org has a flag for "pornography" but there is no way to flag content for things such as racism. we live in a white supremacist patriarchal society if that was not obvious. we must remain vigilant and work together to ensure the existence of free speech and freedom of expression. the dominant historical archive has always been prejudice.
